Troy City Schools superintendent Lee Hicks said close to 100 resumes and applications have come in for the vacant head football coach position at Charles Henderson High School, but no interviews have been conducted as of yet.

The job announcement did not officially close until today, January 10, but Hicks is very pleased with the response.

“From the returns on the official website and phone calls I have personally received, we are excited with where we stand,” Hicks said. “Interest has come from current high school head coaches and assistant coaches, as well as some college assistants.”

The position became available in mid December when former head coach Mike Dean announced his resignation just 10 days after leading the Trojans to the AHSAA 4A State Championship game.

Hicks said when the advertisement officially comes to a close, a group of administrators will sit down and go over resumes and then begin the interview process.

“Hopefully we will have someone to recommend to the School Board at the next meeting,” Hicks said.

The Troy City School Board’s next scheduled meeting is set for January 27.
