Troy Police investigating armed robbery

Troy police are searching for two suspects in connection with an early Friday armed robbery at a convenience store.

According to reports, two male subjects committed the robbery in the parking lot of the Texaco Gas Station on Elba Highway at approximately 12:05 a.m. Friday

The store clerk told police she was approached by the two suspects in the parking lot shortly after she closed the store. The suspects were armed with a handgun.

After robbing the victim, the suspects fled on foot in the direction of Ellen and McNeil streets.

The victim described one of the suspects as being a male approximately 6 feet tall and wearing a cardinal color sweat shirt.

In a statement, Police Chief Jimmy Ennis reminded residents to be mindful of their surroundings at all times. He also offered the department’s assistance to local businesses, saying “anyone who wishes for an officer to standby while leaving or closing a business or (to provide) an escort to make a business bank deposit can contact the police department at 566-0500.”
