Student wakes up to find man in apartment

It was a scary situation for a Troy University college student Thursday morning.
According to Troy Police, a woman woke up in her apartment in the 400 block of Jane Road to find a black male inside her home.
The incident happened about 4:45 a.m. Thursday. The victim told police the man confronted her and she yelled for help, causing him to run from her apartment.
She told police the man was wearing a dark color tank top and red gym shorts.
She didn’t suffer any injuries, according to Troy Police.
Troy University sent an alert to faculty and students late Thursday afternoon advising them of the break in, as well as a few instances of property vandalism on campus in the last week. University officials reminded email recipients to be vigilant about their safety and surroundings at all times.
University Police Chief John McCall cautioned faculty and students to familiarize themselves with where things are located on campus, not to talk to strangers, lock doors to cars and homes, not to open doors for strangers, keep personal items out of sight in homes and vehicles, use the buddy system, let friends and family know where they are going, update people regarding plans, stay alert and aware of the immediate environment, report suspicious people or situations and call police immediately if help is needed.
Troy Police are investigating the burglary and are asking anyone with information about the Thursday morning crime to call the Troy Police Department at 566-0500 or the Secret Witness Line at 566-5555. Callers may remain anonymous
