Mr. Lennie Ellis, 89, of Brundidge, AL. passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Wood and Chaplain Kenny Horn officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge directing. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2103 at Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge. The family will also receive friends Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. He was born November 29, 1924 in Pike County, AL to the late Walter Ellis and Lokie Allen Ellis. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII and he stayed active in the American Legion for over 60 years. He and his wife, Mrs. Bobbie, were in the store business for many years in Tarentum and Brundidge. He farmed for many years, was in the scrap metal business for a while and had several other businesses during his life. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Ellis, a son, James Garrett Ellis and a sister, Indy Ellis. He is survived by a son: Max (Lynn) Ellis, Troy; daughter: Linda (Richard) Ingram, Atlanta, GA; daughters-in-law: Carol Ellis, Brundidge; Deborah Hussey, Rocky Head; grandchildren: Darrell (Terri) Ingram, Dwaine (Khyrs) Ingram, and Tonya Meadows, all of Atlanta, GA; Jenny (Mitchell) Foster, Highland Home; Jodie (David) Singleton, Brundidge; Katie (Eric) Smith and Walter (Morgan) Ellis all of Troy; great grandchildren: Dustin, Daniel and Dylan Ingram, and Caylene, Nathan, Mae, Faith and Charlie Ingram all of Atlanta, GA; Emma Frances, Anna Kate, Spencer and Zachery Foster, Highland Home; Ty and Tanna Singleton, Brundidge; Parker Sanford and Pacyn Smith, Troy; special friends; Alice Johnson, Elouise Johnson, Lois Arnett and Hospice Advantage. Serving as pallbearers will be Buddy Adams, Darrell Ingram, Walter Ellis, David Singleton, Mitchell Foster and Eric Smith. Memorials may be made to Hospice Advantage of Troy.
