The Colley Senior Complex in Troy will host its annual Veterans Day Breakfast Monday morning in the downstairs dining room at the Complex on Elm Street.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with breakfast at 8 a.m.
Catherine Jordan, complex director, said all veterans are invited and encouraged to come.
“The Veterans Day breakfast is a very special event because it is an opportunity for us to express our appreciation to our veterans for their commitment to our country and the sacrifices they made in service to our country,” Jordan said. “It is also a time for our veterans to come together and enjoy the fellowship of those who also have served.”
Jordan said no pre-registration is required.
“We do ask all veterans to sign-in when they arrive so that we will have a growing list of our Pike County area veterans,” she said. “We want veterans of all ages to come and be a part of this great celebration.”
The featured speaker for the 2013 Veterans Day Breakfast will be Ira Brown, a retired Army officer who makes his home in Troy.
“We will recognize all veterans and they will have an opportunity to speak if they would like,” Jordan said.
Special patriotic music will be presented by Shelia Jackson and her son, Patrick Jackson, and Willie B. Williams.
“We wanted to do something special for our veterans this year,” Jordan said. “They have done so much for us and there is no way that we can ever repay them. They deserve more than we can ever give, but each veteran who attends the breakfast will receive a blanket as a reminder that they are always wrapped in the warm places of our hearts.”
