In its final meeting of FYE 2013, the Pike County Commission on Monday accepted two bids and cancelled its next meeting.

The commission accepted a bid for liability and property insurance from the Witherington Insurance Group for just over $130,000.

The commission also considered a bid from the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama liability insurance for $89,000, but declined the bid because it did not include property insurance.

In other business, the commission accepted a bid by Thompson Caterpillar to repair a motor grader. The funds for repairing the motor grader will be drawn from the county’s Road and Bridge Fund.

The commission also cancelled its next scheduled meeting on Oct. 14 because it falls on Columbus Day. No replacement meeting has been scheduled.

The commission will next meet on October 28.
