The Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center advisory board has set plans for a fun and exciting fall season for the Center’s residents and their families.

Jeanette Dawkins, activities director, said Ms. Alabama Nursing Home will visit TH&R on Oct. 21. The honored guest will spend time with the residents and also tour the facility.

The board set Sunday, Oct. 27 as the date for the annual TH&R Fall Festival. The Festival will begin at 2 p.m. Family members and friends of the residents will be encouraged to share the afternoon of fun with the residents. Members of the community will also be invited to participate in the activities.

The Fall Festival will be much like the school festivals that many of the residents remember.

Activities will include the cookie walk, go fishing, pick up ducks, ring toss and other festival games. Hot dogs will be served during the entertainment portion of the Festival.

Dawkins said members of the community sometimes like to participate in the Festival by donating prizes.

“The support of the community is always appreciated,” she said. “Prizes that the residents especially enjoy are small stuffed animals and the ladies like bracelets. The residents who do crossword puzzles and word finds always need pencils. And, they like to get those puzzle books.

“The residents appreciate anything but the thing they enjoy most is having someone to share the special events with them,” she said. “We encourage family and friends of our residents to plan to be with them for the Fall Festival and we invite the community to be a part of the Festival. It’s fun and it means a lot to our residents.”
