A man arrested for a stabbing murder at Club 29 last year was denied youthful offender status Friday.
Aquantis Kendarrel Thomas, 21, was arrested on July 21, 2012 after allegedly stabbing Jacobi Jones about 2 a.m. the same day.
Thomas appeared before a judge Tuesday for a youthful offender hearing. According to Assistant District Attorney Jeff Moore, his next scheduled appearance in court is an arraignment on Aug. 26 with the possibility of a trial in October.
Jones was a 2011 graduate of Charles Henderson High School. Police said he had been stabbed during what appears to have been a fight with Thomas at the club. Jones was transported to a Montgomery hospital, where he later died.
Thomas was also treated and released from Troy Regional Medical Center for injuries he suffered during the incident, according to police.
