The Humane Society of Pike County’s 6th Annual Pet Photo Contest is underway and all pet owners are encouraged to become shutterbugs and capture their pets at their cutest, cuddliest or most coy.

“For five years, we have had great participation in our Pet Photo Contest and hopes are that this will be our best ever,” said Lisa Howard, contest co-coordinator. “The Pet Photo Contest is the major fundraiser for the Humane Society of Pike County. All proceeds from this event will go to support the countywide spay/neuter program, the feral cat program, education program and families in need program. So we need and appreciate the support of our community.”

The winner of the Pet Photo Contest will be featured on the cover of the humane society’s 2014 Pet Photo Calendar. In addition to the cover winner, there will be a winner for each month and each week of the year.

To enter a photo in the Pet Photo Contest, submit an 8×10 photo, color or black and white, a completed entry form and a $10 donation to the Humane Society of Pike County.

“You may enter as many photos as you would like but each photo requires a separate entry form and $10 donation,” Howard said. “Entries will be accepted through Sept. 2.”

To enter, send the owner’s name, address, telephone number and email address, the kind of pet, the pet’s name, age, and comments about the pet to: Pet Photo Contest, P.O. Box 296, Troy, AL 36081.

“The selection of a winner will be by the number of votes from owners, families and friends voting for their pet’s favorite photo,” Howard said. “You can vote as many times as you like by donating one dollar per vote to the Humane Society of Pike County and all donations are tax deductible.”

Voting may be done by mail or at various specified locations within the county. Entries and number of votes may be viewed online at www.pikehumane.org.
