Burglar caught after police chase in Troy

Police arrested a Montgomery man after a car chase down South Brundidge Street Saturday morning.

According to Troy Police Lt. Bryan Weed, police received a call about someone breaking into a vehicle at a business on in the 1100 block of U.S. Highway 231 South. The burglary victim gave police a description of the suspect’s vehicle.

When officers spotted the car turning on to South Brundidge Street, the suspect fled at a high speed with police cars in pursuit.

The suspect bailed out of red Mitsubishi Galant at the intersection of Hillside Drive at Alphonsa Byrd Drive. Police chased the man on foot until he was caught on East Fairview Street.

The 20-year-old man from Montgomery was charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle and attempting to elude police.

The suspect’s name is being withheld by police due to the possibility of youthful offender status.
