A bankruptcy court gave approval to Belle Foods Wednesday for a plan to close 13 stores — but Troy’s Food World store is not on the list.
The company, which owns 57 stores in Alabama, Georgia and Florida, filed for bankruptcy on Monday, citing problems with the economy as a reason it could not pay its debt, among other factors.
Stores affected include four in Pensacola, Fla., and two in Birmingham; as well as stores in in Florence, Mobile, Gadsden, Mary Esther, Fla., Tifton, Ga., Decatur, and Niceville, Fla.
According to the plan, the stores will hold liquidation sales and will be closed by Aug. 3.
