J .P. “Curley” Long

J .P. “Curley” Long, age 95, of Troy died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Troy Health and Rehab. Curly Long was a veteran of WWII serving with the United States Navy. He retired from the Alabama Department of Public Safety after a long career as an Alabama State Trooper. He was also a member of the Troy Masonic Lodge.

A Funeral Service for J.P. “ Curley”  Long will be held Friday, July 5, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. from Hephzibah Baptist Church with Reverend Greg Amanand Reverend Rick Hays officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Cemetery with honors performed by the Alabama State Trooper Honor Guard. Visitation for Curley Long will be held at Hephzibah Baptist  Church Friday, July 5, 2013 from 2-4 PM.

Survivors include: Sons and Daughters-in-law, Dennis and Lulene Long of Montgomery, Bruce and Beth Long of Troy,  Daughters and Sons in law, Glenda and David Pinckard of Wetumpka, Dianne and Bill Rhodes of Montgomery, Grandchildren, Russ Pinckard, Christy Garland, Kevin Long, Amanda Kovich, Mark Rhodes, Jamie Payne, Chase Long, Ryan Long, thirteen Great Grandchildren,  Brothers and Sisters in law, Lloyd and Mary Charles Long of Banks, Ellis and Eloise Long of Montgomery, Pete and Jewel Long of Montgomery, Sister in law, Wilner Long and a special family friend Inez Thompson.  Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Julia Long, his parents, William and Addie Long, Grandsons, James Robert Rhodes and Tony Dean Pinckard, Brothers, Emory Long and Alvin Long.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to the Hephzibah Baptist Church or to your Favorite Charity.

The Family of Curley Long would like to thank the owners and staff of Julia’s Restaurant for taking care of him in such a loving and caring manner. Also a special thanks to the Owners and Staff of Noble Manor for the excellent care and treatment he received during his stay there.

Mr. Long’s Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be  Joe Johnson, Evan Williamson, Earl Fain, Randy Hale and Freddie Daughtry
