At the Farm League level, baseball players learn more about the game every time they lace up their spikes.
Even as the opening of the tournament play looms, every day presents new challenges and adventures to coaches, but coach Trey Wright feels that his team is willing to work.
“We have a very young team,” Wright said. “We even have a couple of six-year-old out here. But this group is a hard-working team, and fun team to be around. They really enjoy the game of baseball.”
Wright, who played at Troy University for John Mayotte and for the Montgomery Wings professionally, said that the key for this team is to get three things down pat.
“We harp on three different components,” said Wright. “If they can stay focused, make the routine play and run through the bases hard, we feel like that we can be successful.”
The Farm League Nationals received a bye in the first round of the through the first round of its District Tournament this Saturday at the Troy Sportsplex.
The team will play the winner of Eufaula and Greenville at 6 p.m.
“We have a good group that loves to play the game, and loves to be around each other,” said Wright. “It makes it really fun, we have a bunch of good dads helping out to try to make this a success.”
The District Tournament begins Friday at the Troy Sportsplex on Enzor Road in Troy.
