All of the entry fees for this event will support Kiwanis International’s worldwide fight against maternal and neonatal tetanus – an infection that affects the brain and nervous system. Caleb Dawson, president of the club, said that eight tetanus vaccinations are paid for with each $15 entry.

While the car show is for a good cause, Dawson said the event is also great for the community and family outings.

“People like to get out and show off the cool cars they have,” Dawson said. “Some of the cars have an interesting story behind them, or were obtained in an interesting way.”

There will be first, second, and third-place awards for classic cars, late model cars, trucks and bikes, as well as awards for Longest Distance, Diamond in the Rough, Best Ford, and Best in Alabama.

The car show has done well for the past two years, according to Dawson, and it continues to grow. He said they are expecting about 50-75 car owners this year.

The car show will be held June 8 at Ken Cox Ford from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration is from 8 to 11a.m. Door prizes and concessions will also be available.

Anyone interested in participating in the car show can register the day of the show and admission is free for spectators.
