Although the baseball and softball regular seasons at the Troy Parks and Recreation Department are nearing an end, the summer is just getting going.
The Troy Parks and Recreation Department has numerous events throughout the summer to allow families to stay active and enjoy affordable recreational fun.
The TRPD offers swimming lessons in two different sessions throughout the summer months. The first session runs from June 3 to June 27, and the second goes from July 1 to July 25.
Cost for the lessons is $50 for four weeks, eight sessions.
In addition to swim lessons, the staff at the Troy Recreation Department will host day camps throughout the summer months. The day camps will allow kids to enjoy the summer weather, and participate in numerous outdoor activities.
A sack lunch will be provided each day, and the cost of the day camp is $55 per week.
Dan Smith, Director of Troy Parks and Recreation, said that the facilities are ready for the summer season.
“We are open early and late for families to come spend a morning or afternoon,” Smith said. “School is out, and the pool and ball courts are open, ready for affordable family fun.”
Smith also said that the TPRD is planning a special event for later in the summer.
“We are planning on a ‘dive in’ movie,” said Smith. “It’s an outdoor movie that all can attend. We had success in the past when we did it, and want to do it again.”
