Troy senior left-handed pitcher Shane McCain was named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year at the opening ceremonies of the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament on Tuesday in Lafayette, La.

McCain finished the season 8-1 with a 3.70 ERA. He led the league in wins (8), strikeouts (97), walks (17) and opponet’s batting average (.211).

Tyler Ray is the last Troy pitcher to win the award and coincidentally the pair were roommates in 2011.

Troy’s No. 1, 2 and 3 hitters were all honored with 1st Team All-Sun Belt honors. Shortstop Tyler Vaughn, third baseman Logan Pierce and right fielder Danny Collins were all named to the list.

Trae Santos landed on teh 2nd Team All-Sun Belt list after a stellar season playing first base.
