Charles Henderson wins Class 4A state title

MONTGOMERY — Charles Henderson claimed the Class 4A baseball state championship with a 7-2 victory over Brooks at Riverwalk Stadium on Thursday.
Chase Smartt drove in six runs for the Trojans and finished the game 3-for-3. Smartt hit a 2-RBI double in the first inning and a grand slam in the second.
Tripp Blackmon allowed just four hits in seven inning on the mound.
Charles Henderson (40-3) defeated Brooks 7-4 in the first game of the best-of-three series on Wednesday.
It is the second baseball championship for the program. The Trojans won the Class 5A crown in 2004.
