T-Day notebook

Troy wrapped up spring practice with the annual T-Day Saturday afternoon. For what it’s worth, the White team (second-stringers) won the game, 22-14.

Mark Wilson makes presence known

Late in the second half after the Troy offense had several successful plays over the middle, wide receiver Eric Thomas got a wake up call from middle linebacker Mark Wilson.

“He got me good. He woke me for sure, sometime that’s what I need,” said Thomas.

Thomas ran a slant route, after the ball was delivered from quarterback Brandon Silvers, Wilson leveled him forcing Thomas to call it quits for the game.

Thomas did give him on-camera props in post-game interviews.

Burks, Lindsey getting bulk of work at RB

Brandon Burks and Michael Lindsey got the majority of the carries in the first half. Burks, I feel, is the front-runner for the starting job. He was a little banged up towards the end of the spring but has been solid overall. Lindsey has shown the ability to make some explosive plays.

Dent emerges as athletic unknown in spring game

Kinderick Dent, a transfer from South Alabama, hadn’t had his name called many time during spring practice but Larry Blakeney called him by name in post-game interviews and for good reason.

Dent played the final 10 or so plays at quarterback and broke loose for several solid runs. He also connected with Chase Dunn on a 35-yard touchdown pass.
