At the plate, Hartley delievered the games biggest hit in the fifth inning. Hartley gave the Trojans the lead for good with a big three-run home run.

“We had runners on first and second, and she had a 2-1 count,” said Charles Henderson softball head coach Robin Snyder. “She found a good pitch to hit, and drove it over the left-center field wall.”

Snyder was also impressed with the effort pitching-wise from Hartley.

“She did a real good job in the circle for us tonight,” said Snyder. “She kept them guessing all night, and never let them get on track hitting the ball. I’m just really proud of the way she played on both sides of the ball tonight.”

With the win, Charles Henderson ups their area record to 4-1, and have a shot to claim an area title with a win over Headland on Thursday, as well as getting a little luck from other teams.

Despite a losing record, Snyder feels that good things could be in store for his team.

“We are playing some pretty good softball right now,” Snyder said. “Just like in basketball, it really doesn’t matter what you do in the season. You just need to make sure that you are in the top two at the end of the tourney.”

Charles Henderson travels to Headland on Thursday.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
