Sock Hop tonight at The Studio

The word is that Troy used to be a bopping town.
Maybe it still is.
The Studio will be the proving ground tonight when the Johnson Center for the Arts hosts the 1950s Sock Hop with live music by John Key and The Fabulous Shades.
Morgan Drinkard, Johnson Center executive director, said that many of those who bopped and twisted the night away back during their teen years can hardly wait to hit the dance floor.
“Mike Amos gets the Sock Hop together for us each year and he’ll be boppin’ in with his penny loafers on and singing, ‘They Call Me Mister Pitiful,’ which is his favorite older song,” Drinkard said.
Almost everyone who grew up in the 1950s and 1960s has a “favorite” song, probably, the last song played on the record player at the end of the Friday night sock hop in the gym. The last dance was always save for that special teenage crush.
The Fabulous Shades will play many of those favorite, last dance tunes.
Drinkard said tonight’s Sock Hop will be a dance down memory lane for many and a time to remember for everyone.
The Studio doors will open at 6 p.m. and the music will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $20 and include hotdogs, popcorn and roasted peanuts as long as they last.
The Sock Hop is a Thursday Night at The Studio event so everyone is welcome to bring their own food and drinks.
