Dora the Explorer and Spiderman will leave TV Land for a short time Saturday to attend Spring Fest from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in downtown Troy.
Shelia Jackson, Troy tourism director, said it’s official and signed in ink that the cartoon characters will be in Troy for all the festivities of the springtime event.
“Dora and Spiderman are two of the most popular cartoon characters and we are excited that they are coming to Troy,” Jackson said. “They will take time to visit with their young fans so parents are encouraged to bring their cameras and join the fun.”
Jackson said Spring Fest is a family event and will offer something for everyone.
“We’ll have music for singing along and for dancing,” she said. “We have a couple of people who will teach several line dances so, if you don’t know how to line dance when you come, you can know when you leave. Line dancing is a lot of fun for all ages, and with a quick lesson, everyone can join in.”
The weatherman has promised sunny skies so Saturday will be a good day to be outside and enjoy the company of family and friends, Jackson said.
“We have a huge number of door prizes to give away and we’ll be giving them away at 15 minute intervals,” she said. “We have a large variety of prizes including gift certificates from local restaurants and shops. But you do have to be present to win.”
A special prize will be awarded to the person who is wearing the most green in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.
“Spring Fest is going to be a great day to come together to celebrate spring and St. Patrick’s Day and just to be outside with friends and neighbors,” Jackson said. “We invite everyone to join us for this springtime event.”
