Jim Stallings Barnette, age 73, departed this world on February 16, 2013. He is at peace and has been reunited with his father, mother and three brothers. Jim has a special place waiting for him because of the love and attention he gave of himself to his family and friends.

Jim was raised in Henderson, AL and graduated from Goshen High School. His career and second love after his family was the automobile industry. He started his career in Montgomery, AL, began his own businesses in Montgomery and Troy, AL and retired in Dothan, AL. He was a very successful business man and had a strong work ethic.

Jim married Carolyn Looke of Montgomery, AL and they began their family of five children. Jim and Carolyn were married for 54 years and they were well known in the community for their close relationship and generosity.

Jim was the grandson of James and Elizabeth Stinson Stallings, who were settlers in the Henderson Community.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Timothy Asbury and Elsie Inez Stallings Barnette, three brothers, Harold Adolph, James Lloyd and Jerry Timothy Barnette and one grandson, Patrick Clay Clark, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Looke Barnette; son, Chris Barnette and wife , Cathy of Houston, TX; daughters, Debbie Park and husband Bobby of Henderson, AL, Barbara Ann Barnette of Troy, AL, Carole Barnette of Dothan, AL, Ramona Goetz and husband Willi of Roswell, GA; eleven grandchildren, Lauren Donofrio and husband Joe of Henderson, AL, Allie Park and Brantley Park both of Henderson, AL, Fitz Lee, Jr. of Enterprise, AL, Mary Melissa Barnette of Huntsville, AL, Cassie Hovey and husband Cade of Dothan, AL, Courtney and Caitlyn Clark of Dothan, AL, Nicole, Gabriela and Alex Goetz of Roswell, GA; five great-grandchildren, Grayson and Vincent Donofrio, Avery and Mac Hovey and Tawni Clark; one brother, Charles Barnette and wife Sue of Troy, AL, sister, Jo Ann Barnette Henderson and husband Calvin of Edmond, OK and extended relatives throughout the States.

Jim’s funeral will be held Wednesday the 20th of February at 11:00 am at Green Hills Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Clark officiating. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Hopewell Cemetery at the junction of County Rd 2287 and 2262 in Goshen with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Fitz Lee, Jr., Brantley Park, Greg Barnette, Rick Henderson, Cade Hovey, Patrick Clark, Jeff Wood and Dennis Park. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 1957 at Goshen High School.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopewell Cemetery c/o Bernard Richburg, 8091 County Rd. 2290, Goshen, AL 36035.
