Mr. John W. Motes of Troy, AL. passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at his residence. He was 76. Graveside services for John W. Motes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Spring Hill Cemetery with Rev. Malcom Butts officiating, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for John W. Motes will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. Mr. Motes was born July 1, 1936 in Pike County, AL. to the late Rubin Stine Motes and Murtle Holiday Motes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Motes, sister and brother-in-law, Doris (Howard) Campbell, nephews, Randy Motes and Chad Campbell. He is survived by his wife of 28 years and the mother of their 4 children: Mildred Motes, Luverne; daughter and son-in-law: Debra (Greg) Alton, Troy; sons and daughters-in-law: John E. Motes, Luverne; Terry (Lisa) Motes, Luverne; and Michael (Sherry) Motes, Troy; brother and sister-in-law: Nelson (Lois) Motes, Troy; sisters: Annie Ruth Wilkerson, Luverne; Phyllis Bryan, Goshen; and Jane Warren, Troy; grandchildren: Derek and Dawn Broderway, Jon Austin Motes, Steven Motes, Sean Motes, Dillon and Dustin Motes, Mary Kendall Motes and Dillon and Ryan Kempker; great grandchildren: Haley and Hanna; nieces and nephews: Missy Lester, Greg and Jeff Bryan, Gary and Ricky Campbell, Shawn and Justin Motes, Lisa Rhodes, Ronald Wilkerson, Teresa Watson, Jackie Freese, Joy Bender and Jerome Rogers. Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Broderway, Greg Bryan, Jeff Bryan, Ricky Campbell, Gary Campbell and Ronald Wilkerson.
