More than 10 participants have already filled out and completed their information packets to compete in the Little Miss Troy Pageant.
In honor of Relay for Life, Kappa Delta Sorority will sponsor the 2013 Little Miss Troy Pageant themed “Aladdin’s Arabian Night” on February 23 at 3p.m. The pageant will be held in the Troy Elementary School cafeteria.
“The pageant theme came from the Troy University Pageant’s Disney theme and Kappa Delta chose to use Aladdin,” said Nick Jones, vice president of public relations for Kappa Delta Sorority.
Jones said The Little Miss Troy pageant is a preliminary for the annual National Peanut Festival Pageant in Dothan in October. The entry fee for the Little Miss title is $75, which includes the entry fee towards the National Peanut Festival Pageant that Kappa Delta will take care of for the winner.
The entry fee for the Baby Miss, Tiny Miss, Future Miss, Petite Miss, Young Miss, Pre-teen Miss, and Junior Miss is $40 dollars. There will be five optional categories for $5 each, but the categories will not be counted toward the final scores. A portion of the fees will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
One of the participants will be given the title “Spirit of Troy.” This is awarded to the contestant that receives the most pre-votes. All of the money raised in this category will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
The deadline for the Little Miss entries is Feb. 10 and the deadline for all other categories will be Feb. 15. Admission to the pageant is $5 and can be paid at the door and children under the age of 4 will be admitted free.
