“It wasn’t pretty, but we will take it,” said Goshen head coach Jonathan Shedd. “It was a big win for us. It put us 4-2 in the area, and gave us our tenth win of the year.”

Ivia Pollard led the Eagles with 26 points, while Brunson added seven more.

With the win, the Eagles locked up the second seed in the area tournament. The tournament will be played at Elba, a team Goshen wants to knock off badly.

“The road to the regionals defintely goes through Elba,” said Shedd. “We played well agains them at times in both games, but had runs that took us out. We can’t let them get that run on us when we see the again.

Before Goshen gets to the area tourney, it will take on one of the top teams in the state of Alabama.

The Ariton Purple Cats have lost just one game all season, and are currently ranked inside the top 10 in the latest ASWA polls.

Shedd says playing teams likes Ariton will get his team ready to go for a playoff run.

“We have seen Opp twice, Ariton twice, Providence twice and Luverne,” said Shedd. “They are the best in this area, and going toe-to-toe with them makes us work harder and get better.
