Jeanette H. Farmer, age 84, formerly of Troy, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 in Warner Robins, GA. Graveside services will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the City Cemetery in New Brockton, AL., with Rev. Wayne Weber officiating and Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Green Hills Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Mrs. Farmer was an educator formerly of Troy for 25 years. She retired as Vice Principal at Pike County Elementary, was a principal at Goshen Elementary and Spring Hill Elementary Schools. She was an avid gardener, loved cooking for friends and family, reading , shopping and an advocate for local pets. She received her AA in education from AUM, was president of AEA and a two time delegate for NEA convention in California. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy and was active in the retired teacher Bible Study and volunteered for meals on wheels.
Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her parents, Beresford & Selma Horn; Husband Dr. Charles V. Farmer; brothers, Mac Horn, N.L. Horn and James Horn. She is survived by her daughters, Victoria McWhorter (William), Alexandria “Zan” Upshaw, Sally Reeves (Max), Drew Black (Cris), Charla Cervera (Rick) and Patricia Martin (Ron); grandchildren, Monica Ronish (Brian), Pamela Johnson (Eddie), Debi Lambert (Brian), Barbara Ewell, Miriam Black, Elizabeth Alverson (Warren), Walter Black; great-grandchildren, Tobe Killgo, Tristan Johnson, Caleb Johnson, Kaylee Lambert, Trace Ewell, Brian Lambert, II and Morgan Black.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Brewer, Michael Cervera, Warren Alverson, Walter Black, Mike Reeves and Matt Baker.
