Troy has struggled at times this season overcoming streaks of poor shooting. Saturday night against Arkansas-Little Rock, Troy did just that.

Trailing 32-31 coming out of halftime, Troy’s Emil Jones made a three-point field goal to put the Trojans ahead by two. Troy (6-10, 1-4 Sun Belt) would not score, however, for the next 6:34.

Arkansas-Little Rock (9-8, 3-3) would build a 10-point lead with 11:21 to play, but Troy stormed back to take a 67-64 victory marking the team’s first in Sun Belt Conference play this season.

Jones led the Trojans with 18 points. Ray Chambers scored 11 while Westley Hinton added 10 to go along with nine rebounds.

Hinton as well as Josh Warren made their first career start as Trojans against UALR. It was a strategic move to get more size on the court.

Troy had lost eight of its last nine games heading in Saturday. The Trojans look to build on the victory as the team hosts Louisiana-Monroe on Thursday in a Sun Belt Network televised game. Troy head coach Don Maestri will be honored before the contest as the university names the court in Trojan Arena ‘Court Maestri’.
