The Troy men’s basketball team will look to end a three-game losing streak as it heads to Montgomery to face Alabama State tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
The Trojans (4-6, 0-2 Sun Belt) lost to Utah Valley on Saturday, 86-82, in double-overtime. Troy led the Wolverines for the majority of the contest, but a buzzer-beating tip-in sent the game to overtime. The bright spot for Troy was the career night it received from Ray Chambers. The senior scored 17 points and eight rebounds.
Hunter Williams continues to be the Trojans go-to guy. Williams leads the team in scoring with 11.0 points per game. Antoine Myers and Emil Jones are not far behind with 10.2 points per game. Jones leads the squad in rebounds with 5.8 per contest.
Alabama State will come into the game winless at 0-7. The Hornets fell to Detroit-Mercy on Monday. Joshua Freelove, who scored 24 points in the Trojans 66-62 win earlier in the season, heads the Alabama State attack with 14.1 points per game. Shawntez Patterson, a Troy transfer, is averaging 11.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Troy is currently 10-10 against Alabama State. Jones scored 18 points to go along with his eight rebounds, five assists and two steals in the Trojans victory at Trojan Arena.
