Dr. Donald Thomas, 70, a resident of Luverne, died Saturday, December 08, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 am Monday December 10, 2012 at Joquin Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Thomas, Rev. William Leverette and Rev. Frank Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Thomas is preceded in death by his mother, Ivynell Thomas; his father, Harris Thomas; two brothers-in-law, Horace Paul Bozeman and Stevie Owens; and a sister-in-law, Anne Carr. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Doris Carr Thomas; three children, Andy (Melissa) Thomas, Angie (Jace) Morgan and Stewart (Katie) Thomas; five grandchildren, Josh and Grace Thomas and Sydney, Anna Rae and Kelsey Morgan; three sisters, Alice (Les) Spivey, Dorothy (Lex) Helms and Debra (Wayne) Sanders; brother, Ronald (Dot) Thomas; five sisters-in-law, Carolyn Bozeman, Jeanette (John) Farmer, LaRue (Jimmy) Shaver, Virginia Owens, and Billie (John) Jones; brother-in-law, John A. (Wanda) Carr; and numerous nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Stevie Carr, Paul Bozeman, John Farmer, John Jones, Jimmy Shaver, Les Spivey, Lex Helms and Wayne Sanders. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5 pm until 7 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorial donations be made to the Joquin Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to Camp Ground’s Mama Merle Fund.
