The Ft. Dale Lady Eagles controlled the tempo of the game all night against the Pike Liberal Patriots en route to a dominating win Tuesday night.
Ft. Dale jumped out to quick 2-0 lead after winning the tip.
The Patriots responded quickly as point guard Katie Ward drained a floater on Pike’s first trip down the floor.
The Eagles would then go on a 8-0 run the rest of the quarter to take the lead, a lead they never would surrender the rest of the night.
Pike Liberal head coach Craig Kennedy said that the loss came down to one thing.
“They (Ft. Dale) out hustled us, they outworked us in every phase of the game,” Kennedy said. “They are a solid program, they are well coached and play hard. We have to learn from that.”
Pike Liberal could only muster five total points in the first half, all by Ward. The Eagles led the Pats 16-5 at the half.
Ft. Dale was able to continue its hot shooting out of the locker room in the early stages of the second half.
Two quick buckets for the Eagles busted the game open, and Patriots just couldn’t keep the game within reach down the stretch.
The Patriots were out scored in every quarter, and Kennedy said that his team will have to use this game as “wake up call” and try to improve.
