There’s a deadline looming today, and concerned citizens need to heed it.
Today is the deadline for Pike County residents to register to vote in the upcoming presidential and general election on Nov. 6.
Much is riding on the upcoming election – from the presidential race to statewide amendments and Supreme Court seats in Alabama to the circuit clerk position and spots on the county commission here in Pike County. And voicing our opinion in the election is one of the most important ways we have of participating in the democratic process and ensuring our government is responsive to the electorate.
And there’s no doubt interest in high in the upcoming election. Officials with the Board of Registrar’s office said more than 1,000 came in to register or update their residency information during the past week.
That’s a phenomenal response from the public.
If you have yet to register to vote, or need to change residency information, you can download forms from www.pikecountyboardofregistrars.com. The website also contains information on polling places and a link for sample ballots.
