Pike County Relay for Life is kicking off 2013 efforts tonight at Momma Goldberg’s in Troy.

“It’s really mainly for fellowship for the teams to get together, share their fund-raising ideas and get pumped up again,” said Liz McGrath, community representative for the Mid-South Division of the American Cancer Society.

The event begins at 5:15 in the back room of the restaurant and everyone interested in taking part in Relay is invited.

“We’ll be showing a video on Relay for Life and signing up teams, if they are ready,”

No goal has been set for this year’s fund-raising, but last year yielded $130,000 donated by Pike County Relay for Life.

“We tend to try to raise more money each year and keep the marble moving forward with research,” McGrath said.
