On Oct. 24, the Republican Women of Pike County will welcome Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey back to Pike County.
The October installment of the PCRW’s monthly luncheon will be free and held at The Studio in Troy.
“The main purpose of her coming is to share information about state government and what is happening in Montgomery,” said Nell Haigh with PCRW.
Seating is limited to 130 guests, so reservations are required by Oct. 22. Those interested in attending may email nbhaigh@gmail.com or leestroy@troycable.net, or call 807-0030.
“We are hoping for a strong turnout,” Haigh said. “Kay is the Lt. Gov. for all Alabamians. She doesn’t just represent Republicans.”
Haigh explained that Ivey’s visit should be interesting because she has devoted much of her life to public service and has a wide background in state government, as well as having been an educator.
A meet and greet for Ivey will begin at 11:15 a.m. next Wednesday with lunch to follow. Haigh said the event will end at 1 p.m.
Although there is no charge for the lunch of ham, green beans, creamed corn, green salad and dessert, Haigh said PCRW will accept donations that will go toward the organizations scholarship fund for local high school seniors.
Alabama GOP Chairman Bill Armistead will also make remarks at next week’s meeting.
