It’s too late to register to vote in the upcoming Brundidge run-off, but it’s not to late to register for the General Election in November.

“The last day is Oct. 26,” said Melissa Ingram, chair of the Board of Registrars. “It’s a state law that we have to cut off registration 10 days prior to the election.”

Ingram said Troy University has been holding voter registration drives and the Board of Registrars hopes to have representatives at next Thursday night’s home game at the university.

Last month, Ingram reported that about 1,600 people updated or made changes to their voter registration and about 350 registered to vote in Pike County for the first time.

“There are a lot of people excited about this election,” Ingram said. “Yesterday afternoon was non-stop. There were people waiting in line to register. I love that people are eager to vote.”

And the registration process is now even easier with the Board of Registrars’ new website – pikecountyboardofregistrars.com. Registration forms are available for download at the site and can be mailed or hand delivered to the Board of Registrars office.

Voters can also check their registration status and find out where they should report to vote on Election Day.

“If there are questions, call me,” Ingram said. “We are trying to make sure we help everyone get ready to go to the polls.”
