A Troy man was airlifted for medical care after a vehicle collision early Tuesday afternoon.
Randolph McLendon, Jr., 48, was traveling on his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on George Wallace Drive about 12:38 p.m. when the driver of a 1998 white Plymouth Voyager traveling northbound turned in front of him, according to Troy Police.
The crash happened near Pell Avenue.
McLendon was taken by CARE Ambulance to Troy Regional Medical Center and later taken by helicopter to Baptist South Hospital for treatment of “very serious” leg injuries suffered in the crash, said Troy Police Sgt. Benny Scarbrough.
The driver of the van, 24-year-old Cheryl Hubbard Richardson, of Troy, was not injured.
“This was a major wreck,” Scarbrough said, adding that the case is still under investigation by the Troy Police Department.
Troy Police, Troy Fire Department, Alabama State Troopers, Troy University Police and CARE Ambulance all responded to the wreck scene.
