Charles Henderson alumni baseball reunion set for Friday

The Charles Henderson High School baseball team is welcoming back former players to a reunion prior to Friday’s football against St. James.
The event is open to all former Charles Henderson baseball players, and will include a meal and reception prior to kickoff.
“It is great to see my players from the past four years,” said Derek Irons, Charles Henderson High School baseball head coach. “But it is even better to see the guys in their thirties, forties, and so on come back and swap the stories and memories.”
The event will be held on the fifth floor of the Stadium Towers at Veterans Memorial Stadium, and will begin at 6 p.m.
Irons said that it is a great opportunity for his current players to mingle with some of the legends of Charles Henderson baseball.
“I like to have my players interact with some of the guys who were here before,” said Irons. “It gives the chance for the current team to see the legacy they are carrying on and see how much work went in to building the program. They get to see what they represent.”
All sorts of banners decorate the outfield wall at Frazier Field at Hogan’s Hole, including one that reads “2004 State Champions.” The Trojans have also advanced to the playoffs for 14 consecutive seasons, and have made deep runs numerous times during that stretch.
The event is free, but Irons said that the coordinators of the event would like to have a head count and know how many are expecting to attend.
For more information on the event, contact Derek Irons by email at ironsd@troyschools.net, or call Charles Henderson High School at 334-566-3510.
The event is free to former players, and they are welcome to bring their families.
