The Pike Agriscience and Technical Career Center Academy in Goshen will host a cake auction Sept. 18 at WTBF radio station on the square in downtown Troy.
Kelly Pritchett Mullins, academy director, said the cake auction will serve multiple purposes.
“The cake sale will raise awareness of the Ag Academy at Goshen High School and will also help gain support for the agriscience experience which we offer through the Pike County School System,” Mullins said.
And last, but not least, Mullins said the cake auction will raise funds to support the Pike Agriscience and Technical Career Academy.
Mullins said the Ag Academy introduces students to broad career opportunities in the agriculture industry while teaching them practical job skills and real world knowledge.
“The Academy provides students with industry-related courses of study and prepares them for further studies in higher education,” she said.
Along with career opportunities and real world knowledge, the Academy teaches students discipline, determination, work ethic, responsibility and teamwork.
The Pike Agriscience and Technical Career Academy features two career paths in plant or animal science, emphasis on academic excellence, classroom instruction integrated with workplace experience and opportunities for paid internships and the Future Farmers of America.
“Please come out and support the county’s only agriscience program,” Mullins said.
“The future farmers of America appreciate the community’s support.”
