Willie Mae Hobbs, age 88, of Troy, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs.Hobbs will be held Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Henderson and Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Green Hills Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Green Hills Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hobbs was a native and lifelong resident of Pike County. She and her late husband Donald S. Hobbs were the owners and operators of Hobbs Candy Co. of Troy for many years. She was the first director for the City of Troy Housing Authority Adult Nutrition Program and retired from that position in February 1989. She was an avid fisherman throughout her life and enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and Braves’ baseball. She was a founding member of Riverview Baptist Church of Troy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald S. Hobbs; her parents, James Henry “Dink” and Molly Simmons Harris; brothers James Gillis Harris, Willis Watson Harris (Edna), David Garrett Harris and Russell Earl Harris; a sister, Minnie Lee McLendon (Z.B.); a sister-in-law, Jean Harris; and a granddaughter, Leah Michelle Davis.

She is survived by two sons, William E. Davis and Donald G. Davis (Linda) of Troy; three daughters, Donna H. Kendrick (Russell) of Orange Beach, Deedie H. Carter (Kenneth) and Debra H. Davis (Lamar) of Troy; nine grandchildren, Matthew B. Kendrick (Mary), Robin D. Thames (Scott), Joshua L. Kendrick (Jennifer), Kellie D. Henderson (Richard), John Mark Davis, Pam D. Hester, Andrea D. Maness (Allen), Jim G. Davis and Kasee M. Carter; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a brother, Robert Wade Harris (Sara) of Panama City, Fla., two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Harris and Jo Harris of Troy; and a kind and loving friend, Jewel Townsend.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Kendrick, Joshua Kendrick, John Mark Davis, Jim Davis, Scott Thames and Allen Manes.
