Charles Henderson head coach Mike Dean has made it clear that he wants the Trojans to play a championship caliber schedule. It appears he has received exactly what he wished for.
Charles Henderson will face its second straight ranked opponent as they travel to Opelika to face Class 4A No. 5 Beauregard a week after a the Trojans knocked off Class 3A No. 8 Bayside Academy, 29-22.
It took a 40-yard touchdown pass from Austin Ingram to Kenyatte Jones to walk away with the win. The Trojans, who have not graced the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll since 2008, will look not only get off to a good start in region play but also redeem last season’s loss to the Hornets.
Beauregard defeated Charles Henderson, 21-14 a year ago when the Trojans were denied after having the football first and goal at the 1-yard line.
Beauregard holds the all-time series lead over Charles Henderson three games to one with the Trojans only victory coming in 2010.
The game will also mark the first region contest as a member of Class 4A for the Trojans. They had been Class 5A since 1983.
Kickoff between Beauregard and Charles Henderson is set for 7 p.m.
