Patriots down Lyman Ward for 1st win

It was the Taytom Barnes show as Pike Liberal Arts (1-2, 0-1) picked up its first victory of the season with a 32-8 decision over Lyman Ward.
Barnes rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns and racked up 125 yards receiving and another score.
Barnes and the Patriots struck early as the Pike Liberal Arts senior scored on the first play of the game on a 67-yard run.
Barnes would find the end zone again in the opening quarter, this time of a 40-yard carry.
As the second quarter opened, Russ Thomas found Barnes for a 65-yard connection to give the Patriots a three-score lead.
Thomas would later cross the goal line himself on a 1-yard plunge.
Lyman Ward scored its only touchdown in the third period and converted the two-point conversion to cap the scoring.
Pike Liberal Arts will host Class A Lakeside next week.
