Making a call for your favorite photos of pets
Published 11:00 pm Thursday, August 30, 2012
Today is the last day to enter Fido’s photo in the 2012 Pet Photo Contest sponsored by the Pike County Humane Society.
Proud pet owners are invited to enter a photo of their pet – dog, cat or otherwise – for a omial fee. The entries will then be put on display for the next several weeks in various locations throughout the county. The public will be invited – and encouraged – to cast their votes (with a donation) for their favorite photos.
Winners will be featured in the Humane Society’s annual calendar with the top vote-getter earning the coveted cover position.
It’s a fun annual project that raises money for a good cause. The Humane Society provides a spay and neuter program, a feral cat program, and education about the humane treatment of animals, among other efforts. The pet photo contest is an important part of its fund-raising efforts.
So if you’ve got a favorite photo of your pet, we hope you’ll enter it. Entries are being accepted at Guynn’s Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service, The Little Framery, Troy Antiques and Jinright’s Hillside Antiques, or contestant owners can mail entries to Pet Photo Contest, P.O. Box 296, Troy, AL 36081.
And, even if you don’t make an entry, we hope you’ll take the time to cast a vote for your favorite photo this year. Votes are only $1 each.
