On Friday, Joey Denison, Sr. will head to Bulldog Stadium to watch his son play. Only, he is a coach for Pike County and his son plays for Charles Henderson.

Denison, Sr. was a member of the Bulldogs coaching staff last season so the pair have been through the routine before.

“This isn’t the first time we have gone against each other,” Denison, Sr. said. “He knows what’s expected. He is a great player and is going to play hard.”

Denison Jr., who is a starting middle linebacker for the Trojans says that there isn’t a lot of talk about the game at home leading into Friday night.

“We’ll talk about it after the game but we don’t really say much before then,” he said.

Silence can be deceiving  with the playbooks from rival schools resting under the same roof.

“No, no I don’t do that,” Denison Jr. said with  laugh when asked if he had tried to sneak a peek at the Bulldogs gameplan.

And as for the father?

“No,” Denison Sr., also said with a grin. “We don’t speak much this week. He knows that I’m committed and I know he is as well. Coach (Mike) Dean does a great job and will have him ready to play.

Denison Jr., was one of Charles Henderson’s leading tacklers last season and is expected to lead the Trojans defensive unit again in 2012.

Pike County and Charles Henderson will face off at 7 P.m. in Brundidge on Friday.
