Tuesday night’s Troy City Council meeting was a short one as council members, candidates and others planned to attend a municipal candidate forum scheduled at the Pike County Courthouse.

During the meeting, the council voted to accept Floyd Construction of Troy as the low bidder to pave a portion of Grace Road, Flint Equipment Company was awarded a bid to provide a backhoe for the Public Works Department, and Wiregrass Construction was awarded a $1.4 million contract to pave area streets (to begin by Oct. 1).

The council also declared a building at 1101 Bowden Court in Troy dilapidated.

The next scheduled meeting of the Troy City Council is set for Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.
