Mr. A.D. Ryals Jr. of Troy died Tuesday, August 07, 2012  at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm from the Collegedale Church of Christ with Minister Bobby Templin and Reverend Dave Kirby officiating Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.  Burial will follow inGreen Hills Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. There will also be a one hour lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.

Mr. Ryals was born in Pike County on December 26, 1925. He served a short time in the United States Navy and retired after 32 years with the Alabama Highway Department. He was always active in caring for the WesleyChapel Cemetery, and an active member of Collegedale Church of Christ.  He was a gentleman farmer; he enjoyed planting and tending his garden and sharing with others.

Though he had no children of his own he was loved like a father by his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Ruby Commander Ryals, a sister Hilda Griffin, nephew Mike Griffin, nieces Mim and Pink Folmar, Becky and Dave Kriby, a brother-in-law Gerald and Elinor Commander, a sister-in-law Mildred Commander, nieces Janey and Danny Downing, Judy and Calvin Smith, Sara and Jim Everitt, nephews Jerry and Cathy Commander, James and Irene Commander, Charles and Pat Commander.

He was preceded in death by his parents A.D. and Artie Missie Ryals, his sisters Glnis Merle Ryals, Vercy RyalsBramley and a brother Peavy Maxwell Ryals.

Active Pallbearers will be Daniel Bryant, Wayne Stewart, Mike Griffin, Lomax McLean, Danny Downing, Jerry Commander, Pink Folmar, and Max Shiver. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Collegedale Family.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Christian Student Center at Collegedale Church of Christ, P.O. Box 152, Troy, AL 36081.
