Marjorie Wark Lovik

Marjorie Ward Lovik, age 91, of Birmingham, Alabama (originally of Macon, Georgia) passed into eternity on July 12, 2012. A private graveside service was held at Southern Heritage Cemetery in Pelham, Alabama on July 14, 2012 with Rev. Jerry Harris, Associate Pastor at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, officiating. Eulogies were given by Dr. Lawrence Lovik, Marjorie’s son and a former Troy University faculty member, and his wife, Jean Lovik. Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Lovik; her son, Michael Lovik; parents, Obie and Lilly Ward; sisters, Dorothy Spaulding, Catherine Cook, and Ann Clampher; and brothers, Billy Ward and Radford Ward. Survivors include Marjorie’s son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Lawrence and Jean Lovik; grandchildren, Melani Lovik and Juli Hansen and husband Dr. John Hansen; great-grandchildren, Samuel Hansen and Mary Elizabeth Hansen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Virgil and Romane Lovik; and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie made many friends all over the country as she moved more than 50 times, following her husband serving in both the U.S. Air Force and Civil Service. She worked in medical records at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Marjorie graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. She understood the importance of expanding her knowledge and she was an avid reader in a variety of subjects. Over the years she was also active in church and civic organizations and served as a Pink Lady at Edge Memorial Hospital in Troy, Alabama. Her favorite times were spent with her family whom she loved dearly. Marjorie spent her life helping to instill the values of faith, integrity, a strong work ethic, respect, and a love of God, family and country because she believed a good name was worth more than silver and gold. She will always be remembered by her family as a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marjorie was a member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia.
