‘Let’s Eat’ in support of education

“Let’s Eat.”
The refrain echoes through Pike County today as members of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee encourage residents to go out to eat in support of the group’s fund-raising efforts.
The Let’s Eat program, well into its third year, raises funds for the education committee’s P.R.A.I.S.E. scholarship program. The program provides scholarships to graduating seniors based on their ACT scores.
The scholarships are funded primarily through Let’s Eat, the innovative program that allows local restaurants to partner with the Chamber committee to raise funds for the scholarships. The concept is simple: each month a local restaurant volunteers to be a Let’s Eat partner. In return for the Chamber’s promotion and publicity, the restaurant agrees to donate a portion of that day’s proceeds to the education committee.
For participants, we get to enjoy a good meal and support our local eateries, while knowing that we’re supporting a good cause at the same time.
Proceeds vary, but last year the program raised enough to award more than nearly $3,000 in scholarships to worthy seniors.
So take a lunch or dinner break today and participate in the Let’s Eat program. It’s a fun and enjoyable way to support education in Pike County.
