Brandy Grace, a seven-year-old rescue cat of Kenny and Elaine Pinckard, took first place honors in 2012 but this year’s contest is wide open and any pet could win.

The Humane Society of Pike County’s 5th Annual Pet Photo Contest and fund-raiser is now underway.

It’s the time of year when pets put their best faces forward and their owners puff up with pride.

All proceeds from the Pet Photo Contest support the Humane Society of Pike County’s countywide spay/neuter program, the feral cat program, in-school education programs and the families in need program.

“The winner of the Pet Photo Contest will be on the cover of the Humane Society of Pike County’s 2013 pet calendar,” said Lisa Howard, contest chair. “In addition to the cover winner, there will be a winner for each month and for each week of the year.”

To enter the annual Humane Society fund-raiser, submit an 8×10 pet photo, a completed entry form and a $10 donation to the Human Society of Pike County.

“You many enter as many photos as you would like, but each photo requires a separate entry form and $10 donation,” Howard said. “The photos may be color or black and white. Entries will be accepted through Aug. 27.”

Entry forms are available online at www.pikehumane.org, or locally at Troy Animal Clinic, Trojan Animal Clinic, Troy Pets and Jones Animal Clinic in Brundidge.

Entries may also be mailed to Pet Photo Contest, P.O. Box 296, Troy, AL 36081.

Entries must include the owner’s name, phone number, type of pet, pet’s name. Please note if the pet is a rescue animal.

The selection of the winners will be by the number of votes received.

“The pet photo that receives the most votes will be the winner and will be on the calendar cover,” Howard said. “The pets that receive the next highest number of votes will be the winners for the months and the pets with the next highest number of votes will be the weekly winners.

“You may vote as many times as you would like, but each vote is a dollar donation,” Howard said. “All donations are tax deductible.”

Entry forms may be turned in and votes cast at Guynn’s Income Tax and Bookkeeping Service, The Little Framery, Troy Antiques and Jinright’s Hillside Antiques. Votes will be accepted through September 28.

Contest entries and number of votes may be viewed online at www.pikehumane.org. For more information, call Howard at 334-566-6617, or call 334-807-0002 or 334-735-5567.
