Police investigate church damage

The Troy Police Department is investigating two crimes reported on Monday.

Officers responded to a reported burglary at the construction site of the new Troy Public Library for a crime believed to have happened between 5 p.m. on July 5 and 7 a.m. on July 6.

“There was a storage building that contained tools and work items on the construction site,” explained Troy Police Sgt. Benny Scarbrough. “Unknown subjects made entry into the storage building and took assorted tools.”

Police are also investigating a report of criminal mischief at Beulah Primitive Baptist Church on the 500 block of South Three Notch Street, according to Scarbrough.

Nothing was reported stolen, but someone did cause structural damage to the building when they kicked in the front door.

Police are asking anyone with information about these two crimes to call the Troy Police Department at 566-0500, or the Secret Witness Line at 566-5555.
