Second burglary suspect charged

Two people have now been arrested in connection with the burglary of an international college student’s apartment early Friday morning.

Akeem Jamars Walker, 19, of Troy, was charged with burglary second degree and receiving stolen property on Friday afternoon. Jeremy Jermaine Swanson, 20, of Troy, was charged Monday with burglary second degree.

No one was injured in the crime that took place on the 800 block of South Brundidge Street shortly before 1 a.m. Friday. Police were called in response to subjects entering the apartment of a Troy University student and taking items.

Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis said the victim was able to give a description of a vehicle leaving the scene and a nearby officer stopped the vehicle. The officer apprehended the driver and three other suspects ran from the vehicle.

Walker is being held on a $20,000 bond for the burglary charge and $5,000 for receiving stolen property. Swanson is being held on a $20,000 bond.
