Troy “O”Zone Rookies claim District 9 title in rout

EUFAULA – Troy “O”Zone Rookie team claimed the Distrcit 9 title with a 15-0 blowout of Enterprise American on Wednesday in Eufaula.
Troy finished off a dominating run that saw the team out-score its opponents 46-7.
“I don’t think they know how good they can be,” head coach Frank Scarbrough said. “They are a great bunch of kids that work extremely hard and they have a lot of great things to come.”
In the championship game for Troy, James Hollis was 1-for-2, Chance Pollard was 1-for-3, Daniel Phillips was 1-for-2, Noah Lowery was 1-for-2, Lawson Scarborough was 1-for-1, De’Quavian Toney was 1-for-1, Noah Phillips was 1-for-2, Will Reeves was 1-for-2, Brock Huner had two walks, Tyrell Jones 1-for-2 with a three-run home run, Daniel Carter was 1-for-2, and Laertis Brantley was 1-for-2.
Troy played solid defense throughout the tournament committing just one error in 21 innings.
In four games, Troy registered 40 hits compared to its opponents 11. Troy pitchers struck out 24 batters while opponents recorded just nine. 10 pitchers combined to lead Troy to the District title.
“I’m proud of these boys,” Scarbrough said. “They was they played speaks for the kind of kids they are.”
The “O”Zone Rookies advance no further than District.
